Quality Assurance Engineer

Founded in 2004 by veterans of Internet portals, traditional games publishers, entertainment software, and technology firms, PlayFirst is funded by venture capital firms Mayfield Fund, Trinity Ventures and Rustic Canyon Partners.

PlayFirst is currently looking for an experienced QA Engineer to join our team. The candidate must have experience testing games and will ideally be experienced in leading a team to complete a project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Test PlayFirst games for usability, functionality, design, and compatibility flaws.
  • Proactively work with other groups to ensure continuous QA progress on the project.
  • Improve and define processes where necessary.
  • Automate test cases where possible.
  • Create project test plans.
  • Help build and maintain PlayFirst's compatibility testing lab, including the setup and troubleshooting of desktop and laptop computers.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and descriptively file bugs for assigned projects.
  • Communicate clearly with producer and development staff (both internal and external) on issues related to currently assigned projects.
  • Contribute to release documentation.
  • Conduct functionality, performance, and load testing.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of QA experience; preferably within an interactive entertainment medium (PC/Mac, console, handheld, online, etc.).
  • Experience in a lead role.
  • Game QA experience required.
  • Working knowledge of overall QA and software development process.
  • Practical experience with a scripting or programming language.
  • Ability to develop test cases and test plans.
  • Careful observer, patient, attentive to details, natural problem solver.
  • Familiarity with bug tracking systems and processes.
  • Ability to submit detailed bug reports, regress bugs, and verify bug fixes.
  • Honesty, punctuality, and a high level of personal commitment to work and quality.
  • Self-motivated team player.

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent working knowledge of the popular downloadable game space.
  • Working knowledge of e-commerce web sites and their functionality.
  • Experience creating and implementing automated test systems.
  • Enjoy playing games, with interests in many different genres of games.
