Marketing Manager
PlayFirst is the leading casual game publisher of innovative, award-winning games made for casual gamers wherever they play. Our games reach consumers on 500 sites in 35 countries, as well as on retail shelves and mobile phones. Our portfolio of games includes the record-breaking hit Diner Dash which has more than 100 million plays worldwide.
Founded in 2004 by veterans of Internet portals, traditional games publishers, entertainment software, and technology firms, PlayFirst is funded by venture capital firms Mayfield Fund, Trinity Ventures and Rustic Canyon Partners.
Responsibilities:
The Marketing Manager will work closely with content acquisition, game production, sales, product management and exec team to bring PlayFirst games to consumers around the world. Our unique business model and size are perfect for the consumer marketer who wants to drive results through product marketing (inbound) and brand / channel marketing (outbound).
The Marketing Manager will have a passion for both creativity and analysis and will own results in these two areas:
Go-to-Market Management (Product Marketing):
- Be the consumer voice during game development.
- Translate consumer research and market trends into actionable recommendations.
- Develop and drive go-to-market strategy and execution (from pre-launch research programs to post-launch marketing support).
- Develop all game marketing materials, including press, site and channel copy and art assets.
- Understand new opportunities in quickly-changing business landscape. Propose and drive creative marketing programs for the channel.
Marketing Management (Brand Marketing):
- Ensure the PlayFirst brand is strong and consistent with industry, developer and consumer constituencies.
- Manage communications program with key development partners.
- Broaden the reach and success of the PlayFirst portfolio and PlayFirst corporate brand.
- Support sales and business development in their outreach efforts to new partners/customers.
Required Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience with at least 3 years in marketing for a consumer business
- Ability to manage relationships with agencies and creative teams.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and build consensus on a daily.
- Bachelor's Degree.
Desired Experience:
- Background in consumer entertainment, consumer packaged goods, consumer internet, or games industry.
- Background in brand management, Internet marketing, or channel marketing.
- Background in digital entertainment or other hit-based content.
- Previous budget/P&L responsibility.
- MBA preferred.
