Job Description:
The Senior Business Applications Programmer works directly with a cross-functional team of IT, Finance, Sales and Marketing personnel to create and maintain applications for revenue forecasting, royalty reporting, sales operations, marketing, and general finance and administration. The candidate should be an experienced industry veteran whose background includes previous work in a dynamic and fast-paced startup company environment.This position requires a highly focused and organized individual with strong time-management skills who can prioritize multiple;deliverables. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, design and communication skills and have a solid understanding of business applications. The candidate should be a team player. This position reports to the VP of IT Operations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and support internal business information systems by:
Assisting in the formation of system requirements.
Producing detailed program design and specifications.
Assisting in the preparation of project plans and schedules, including: feasibility analysis,system requirements, resource requirements, providing necessary user training; designing, coding, testing, and debugging programs from functional requirements.
Working with the internal end-users in the development of specifications, such as report formats, screen and file layouts, etc.
- Undertake complex assignments as directed by management such as:
Evaluating vendors and industry solutions.
Software package evaluation/selection.
Benchmarking analysis.
Performance analysis and system improvement analysis.
Quality control.
- Implement modifications and perform maintenance to existing computer programs and applications systems.
- Provides guidance and direction to less experienced staff on technical issues
- Prepares complex necessary program documentation for review by management in accordance with quality standards
- Provides internal user support for internal business applications
Requirements:
- Previous experience with ERP and CRM suites (SAP, Oracle, Netsuite, Salesforce)
- 4 or more years programming experience required in application development (C, C++ or Java)
- Strong familiarity with RDBMS systems
- Expert level SQL programmer
- Previous experience working with colleagues at all business levels requiring effective communication skills using the English language
- Five years experience performing comprehensive analysis and design at the program level
- B.S. in Computer Science or Information Systems fields (or equivalent industry experience)
Preferred:
- System administration background in *nix and Windows
- Strong background in open-source environments, software, and tools (BSD, Linux, Apache, MySQL, etc.)
- Strong background in web application development
- Experience with scripting languages (perl, php, python)
