PLAYFIRST TO PUBLISH MIND CONTROL SOFTWARE'S AWARD-WINNING STRATEGY GAME, OASIS™

PlayFirst and Mind Control Team Up to Create the Next Generation of Downloadable Games

SAN FRANCISCO - March 9, 2005 - At the 2005 Game Developer's Conference, PlayFirst, the leading full-service publisher of popular games, today announced that it will publish several new downloadable game titles from Mind Control Software. PlayFirst will publish the highly-anticipated game Oasis™, a casual strategy game that took top honors in the Web/downloadable category at the 2004 Independent Games Festival, winning both the Innovation in Game Design and the Seamus McNally Game of the Year awards.

According to industry commentator Greg Costikyan, as quoted in Salon.com, "Oasis is something different...it's possibly our best hope for expanding the downloadable market into more thoughtful, innovative titles."

"Mind Control Software is one of the true innovators in accessible and engaging games for a broad audience," said Kenny Dinkin, vice president and executive producer, PlayFirst. "Their title, Oasis, is a great fit for the PlayFirst portfolio as it breaks new boundaries for downloadable entertainment. Oasis combines the simple game play of Minesweeper with the rich historical enchantment of Civilization. The game allows you to travel back in time 5,000 years in a five minute coffee break."

Today's announcement marks a deepening of the partnership between PlayFirst and Mind Control Software. Mind Control has been developing critically acclaimed PC games since 1994. Its principals were core contributors to award-winning PC games such as Alien Logic as well as top 100 masterpieces such as Thief and System Shock. Oasis marks their second Independent Games Festival victory. In 1999, they won Best Game Design for Resurrection.

"PlayFirst is a new breed of publisher for the popular game category," said Andrew Leker, president of Mind Control. "They fund and foster creative exploration, innovation and freedom in the game development process. Their management, sales and marketing support lets Mind Control focus on what we do best - creating great games."

PlayFirst is a full-service games publisher focused on growing a premiere portfolio of top-tier popular games. Unlike other publishers, distributors and networks, PlayFirst is the first company with the sole purpose of helping top game developers fund, create and distribute next-generation popular games through multiple consumer platforms. PlayFirst games are available from top online game sites and networks, including Big Fish Games, iWin®, MSN® Games, Oberon™ Media, RealArcade®, Shockwave.com™, Trymedia Systems, as well as on www.playfirst.com.
