PlayFirst hobbies, part 2 - Knitting

Imagine a hobby that improves hand-eye coordination, relaxation and creativity. Yeah, you might think of video games, but I’m talking about knitting! There is a small group of us (including lilfluffball and applesun) who have started knitting at PlayFirst. Why knitting? Well, we work with our hands all day to produce products that are virtual. So it's really satisfying to hold a physical product that we can touch and share. The best part is that we can knit anywhere. We've knitted at our desks, in meetings, over lunch, after work, on the train while commuting and even while walking (though we admit that that's kinda dangerous). Do you knit? If not, give it a try [as long as it doesn’t interfere with your gaming time! – Nemone]! I suggest taking an intro class, asking a friend or looking up free movies on youtube.com. Have fun!

Well, as you can see from my screen name - I'm an avid knitter as well. Have been for a very long time thanks to a local 4-H club. I also found some local groups to knit with through Yahoo Groups and my local knitting stores. I find it can be very zen when I need a quiet moment. I also enjoy knitting for charity projects such as caps for new borns, hats and scarves for the homeless and dishcloths for shelters. Knit On!

I'm a knitter, too! I was a crocheter first, but I taught myself to knit this past winter! My goal is to be able to knit socks. I thought I'd try a pattern that required the use of five DPS, but that proved too complicated, so I'm currently looking for a good pattern for socks using circular needles.
If you are starting a knitting group, I want to join!

I've been knitting for 3 years or so and I love it. I have quite a few projects on the go right now. Socks, a dishcloth, tea towel, a tank top and probably a couple of others I forgot. My projects are all over the livingroom by each seat. When I'm not playing a game or checking emails I'm knitting.

I find knitting is very hard to do some times.

I'm a maniac knitting and always have a project by my computer. But it's always something I can drop at a moments notice and is 'mindless' so I don't have to concentrate on an pattern work.

Yes there are, XtL. You play as two long stick like aliens and you have to transform the stringy, spaghetti like alien into a sweater in order to win the game. Hard though. Very tricky stuff.

I took up knitting last year! I was able to make some rather decent scarves for Christmas presents (they came out straight and even, omg! lol). I love knitting, its so relaxing and like you said, having something tangible in your hands that you created yourself is very rewarding. I learned how to knit the basics from this website: http://www.knittinghelp.com/ Great friendly forum too :)
