Sick of the kids? Sick of the in-laws? Sick of the hand-made sweater auntie knitted for you???? Just want to veg out in front of the computer? Well try these most definitely non-holiday games...

Connect Four Cities - One of my favorite games of the year. Takes Connect Four to a whole new level with some wickedly good new checkers

Pirate Poppers - The mode to try here is the puzzle mode. Starts off easy and then gets fiendishly difficult.

Feeding Frenzy 2 - You've been on a feeding frenzy all holiday long - now let the fish do the eating.

Let us know your favorite ways to beat the holiday blues by adding a comment below!

Putting the fun back into holiday travel

As part of the PlayFirst team based on the East Coast, I frequently travel between my home and the home office in San Francisco. This season can be an especially hectic time to travel - bad weather, holiday crowds and with airports taking additional security precautions, it's enough to consider keeping your feet on the ground. But sometimes treating yourself to the perfect game can be just the thing to turn the long voyage into a great escape. Along my travels, I found a few games in particular are fun and easy to play while airborne, even if you're stuck in seat 31E. Here are a couple of favorites:

One of the nicest things about the word game SandScript is that you can jump right in using just the keyboard - no mouse required! This is especially helpful if you've lost the battle for the armrest to your lucky neighbor in the aisle seat...

If you're traveling with a companion (or like to chat it up with your neighbors) a fun and easy game to play together is Hidden Expedition: Titanic. Played like an old-school "I Spy" game with a twist, this game yields fun for hours. Be careful though, you might have the whole row and a flight attendant or two chipping in!

If you're stuck on the tarmac facing an hour delay and having a hard time keeping the holiday spirit alive, Believe in Santa is hard to resist. Helping Sandy save her granny's toy shop one holiday gift at a time is no easy task, but the challenge is worth it!

Also, don't forget to take advantage of your departure or lay - over terminal's free Wi-Fi service - this is a great time to load up on a couple free trials from PlayFirst.com or make a few pre-boarding game purchases to keep you occupied while flying or wherever your final destination may be.

Happy travels!
