Re: Aveyond 3

Posted: January 31, 2009 at 02:42
Hi everyone, this is Amanda, the gal who is behind the
Aveyond games.I thought I should chime in to help settle the air. I'll do
my best to help everyone understand the mystery behind the naming of Aveyond
3: Lord of Twilight, the naming of Gypsy's Tale, and the mystery of the
December mystery game on amaranthia.com. :-)

It is possible that I sub-consciously came up with
the name "Lord of Twilight" after I saw the title of the
book Twilight. I finalized this name last May. Still, no one owns the word Twilight.

Let's see, what's next? Gypsy's Tale. I like the imagery tied to the word "Tale", so it
was
very important that "Tale" was in the name of this game. I beleive
there are lots of games with words like Tale, Quest, or Adventure in
them. No company owns these terms.

Next, the mystery game. I play a lot of games, but the "mystery" game was
the first non-amaranthia game that I thought would appeal to
most Aveyond players. The game is called Eternal Eden, and since the
release of this game on my site, it has sold like mad. For good or bad,
there are players who like Eternal Eden over Aveyond.

Many of you don't know this, but one of my favorite things
to
do is to help overlooked, talented independent developers, become
successful independent game developers. In fact, Dave Gilbert, the
creator of Emerald City Confidential and Blackwell Legacy and an IGF
finalist for best new game companies was one of the first developer's I
helped! So to make a long story short, I found this amazing guy who
made this incredible game called Eternal Eden last August. I loved the
game and thought it would take off, but it didn't because no one knew
it was available. In November I contacted him and he said things
weren't going so well. He was out of money, and to my horror, only eating every
other day to survive. He had put every cent and ounce of his
strength into his game. So I helped him because I wanted to see him
succeed.

Make
peace, not war everyone! If you have any questions about Aveyond, etc,
just email me directly and I'll do my best to explain any
fears you may have (admin@amaranthia.com)

Now hug and make up. Life is too short to fight with each
other. And go play games!!!

:D
