Developer: Sequel Ideas

Posted: April 12, 2009 at 10:37
Okay, I admit, while nearly driven mad trying to get the Chacha egg, I am so crazy about this game, I sincerely hope someday (and by golly, the sooner the better:) there'll be a sequel with even more stuff to find, tasks to do, pets to have, lands to explore, etc. So here's what I would love to see next time...just offered as ideas from a big old fan:
•Firstly, why not lower the odds on finding the rare animals? Seems so crazy to be not really playing once game is over but just doing save/quit (repeat, repeat, repeat). Not that fun.
•Rather than or in addition to the medal for all that money saving, why wasn't there a medal for finding all the recipes (as with clothing patterns and collars)? And for finding all bouquets? Also, it would be great to have medals for also creating every single bouquet, clothing, recipe, collar as well as just finding them.
•Speaking of that, I would have loved for any bouquet, clothing, recipe, collar to have been highlighted or had an X appear once I'd created it. (Think Paper Mario, if you've seen how that works.)
•With the flowers, it didn't make sense that green lilies, blue roses and magenta daffodils had no function; why not mixed bouquet patterns for those? And just generally more flowers, bouquet recipes?
•Okay, obviously, just way more of everything:) I just loved this so much. I hope next time there are more lands, more pets, more recipes, waaaaay more tasks, more people to befriend, more clothing, etc., etc., etc.

And again, the only reason I threw out all the ideas is: I am MAD CRAZY for this game and just want to have more, more, more, more of it:) LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEE it. I think I even have to put this one just above my beloved Chocolatier games. Thanks for making such fantastic entertainment!

Maybe it's also nice to be able to carry more things in the backpack.

Sorry for the double post...
But I also wanted to say;
Love the game! I'm still trying to collect all of the eggs. But the game, gameplay, quests etc are really great!

I very much like the idea of flagging items that have been created.  A medal for creating everything would also be great.  In fact, I agree with just about everything in the original post.

But what I really want is a better interface for commerce.  The Chocolatier games do it very well, allowing the user to input quanities to buy/sell with either the keyboard or the mouse.  The current game design is nothing but mouse work, and after buying butter in 50's and 100's for a while, my clicky finger could use a break!  :)

Second on my list is a better way to cancel queued pet actions.  The only way to do that in this game is to try to charm something, and there's not always something around to charm.  (By comparison, it's maddeningly easy to cancel your avatar's queued actions.)  Right-clicking would probably do it.

Other stuff:
- Your clothing could affect the way people (or animals!) react to you.  I'd like to see a reason for making more clothing beyond quests, cute factor, and the tailor version of the attention to detail medal.
- It might be nice to make basic crops (wheat, sugar, the level-1 crop in any hypothetical new land) available from the store after you've grown a certain number of plots of them.  Maybe 200 or so.  Planting 25 wheat over and over got very boring...especially when a stray click canceled my queued action.  This happened MUCH more often in the Tropics; I think it has something to do with the orientation of the field.
- Adding more raw ingredients in a sequel would mean needing an even bigger backpack...so I propose being able to divide it into food and not-food items.  Not too huge a leap, as it's already sort of divided into clothing and not-clothing.  It would, of course, have to cost a lot and only become available after the last size upgrade.
- The recipe book could be sortable by recipe type as well as just alphabetically.  I'd have liked to be able to look at all the granola bars, danishes, etc. as a group instead of having to hunt for them.

My brain's come up with a ton more, but it's all details and I'm not a game designer, LOL.  So I'll get back to hunting for that darn apricot jam toast recipe...

In addition to everyone elses suggestions, if the developers actually read this thread, let me put out a request that you turn Wandering Willows into an MMORPG.  I LOVED this game, and i have been looking for a good MMO to play, but there are no good ones out there.  I don't want to play WOW.  Grr.  So please, please, please consider that.

LOL I love the idea of an MMO! Trading eggs and supplies with people would be great! This would be very cute and kid friendly too. I love everyones suggestions, and I would also like to add:

-For "replay" value, add some pets/recipes/medals you can only get on a second time through. This game was so cute that I wanted to play it all over again!

-For the bag issue, put in a bank? That way you could collect to your hearts content!

-I thought the bake sale quest was really cute! What if instead of "personless" shops, there was a baker/tailor/breeder, and you could say, cook x amount for the bake sale or baker or something and earn medals that way? Bronze Baker= Cooked x amount of goods, Silver= y, Gold =Z etc.

- I loved the LONG list of medals to earn in Virtual Familes, so a long list like that would be awesome!

In all, I just didn't want this game to end so, whatever makes the next one last a long time is great for me!

I agree with the idea of having more lands. There are so many places they could go with this now; I love the tropics and I'd love to see other types of terrain. :)

Brilliant game - absolutely loved it and was very happy to find it - not many games like that out there!

I'd love to see a sequal with more lands, more funny charachters and yeah! a bigger bagpack please...!

{even after purchasing all the options it's fairly small, especially when I got all this money and not much to buy... give us more to buy!}

Thankyou :))

I agree that a bigger backpack would be nice. I would also like more varations in how you can start your character aka clothes, hair, e.g. I would like there to be more quests and more than two different lands to play in. I love this game and look forward to a sequel.

I am the carb queen bow to me!!

Since most of us want it to have a multiplayer mode, maybe there could be an option of playing multiplayer mode, which would have a certain land where you could play with other people, trade, ect. Then there would be a story mode, but with a lot more stuff added to it. I'm pretty sure your ideas above would be added!

Avenue Flo, although easy and short, is a fantastic game! Cant wait for Hotel Dash, DD5 and WD4!!!
