back door key at herbalist?

I've played several times now. Sometimes I can find a key to the kitchen of the herbalist so I can just go out in the garden when I need to. Other times, the key seems non-existant and I have to go out the front door, past the windmill to the garden and then back again the same way. Anyone know where that key lives?

Hi EofA.. You might find the key you need in the garden on the left unripe pumpkin..LOL

It is only there the first time, then about half the time after that. I can't find it if it isn't there either.

wildblueyonder means that the key is sometimes there and sometimes not ... so 50/50 chance of finding the key at the unripen pumpkin ^^

I haven't found the key the third time I played either.

If the key is not on the unripened pumpkin - try looking on the pathway at the edge of the garden not far from the back door entrance - thats where I found it. Its hard to see sometimes

I have pictures in my photobucket of the alternate locations of the items on subsequent plays.

This link will have a space in it that will make it not work, so you have to copy it and take out the space to get to the photobucket.

When the key to the back door is not on the unripe pumpkins in the lower left corner it is in the grass on the bottom middle right edge. A picture is in my photos.
