Can someone explain to me what is chaining really?

Is it one action at a time? Like pick up the order from one table and drop it off and go to a next table and pick up order and drop it off? Like do that samething if you can with each tables? OR pick up order from one table and then pick up order from next table and then drop it off? Im soo confused on what is same action and chaining? Please help! Thanks you!
