You should have one skill, use it. Don't try to beat him with the stick or the wooden sword, you'll lose everytime. Check your skills, by pressing ESC then move down to skills and press the space bar, that will show you what you got, etc.

Your'e gonna have to buy the ring so start saving pennies.
