A "wonderful partnership"

Posted: November 4, 2009 at 04:28
As some of you know, BFG's lastest game Hidden Expidition:Devil's triangle, came out. It seems that PF are in some sort of tie. If any, a one-way one. BFG has gotten PF's last few games they've come out; Gemini Lost, Avenue Flo, and Valerie Porter (ugh). Did PF get the new Hidden Expidition Game when it came out? No. I'm sure a lot of us PF members (mainly PP however,) feel cheated (Not nessicarily about PF not getting the new hidden expidition game). That's where the "one-way tie" comes in. BFG gets PF's games the day they come out, and PF doesn't get BFG's. Us PP members can unsubscribe to PF and subscribe to BFG's game-club and get 2 or 3 $'s off a game, all of PF's games the day they come out AND BFG's as well, plus a free gift every now and then. I might just have to do that.

PF had better make some good games and fast...

I have noticed as well that Playfirst and Big Fish have been releasing games from Playfirst on the same day.  It has happened with the last two, Avenue Flo and Valerie Porter.  Any idea why they chose to do this?

I don't know why they decided to do this, but it kind of defeats the purpose of me having a PlayPass membership. From what I can see, other than the medals there is no real reason why I should purchase my games here, when I can buy them for less at BFG.

Does anyone else agree or disagree?

I'm thinking of cancelling my PlayPass membership and I want to get other opinions before I do!

thanks!

I agree Suzyq.  I asked the same question in the "To PF" thread.

Suzy,

Im in the same boat as you on this !! I  am really thinking of cancelling my PP membership also.  Why should I pay 3 more dollars for a game for just online medals here at PF that to me is no big deal .

The only reason I havent cancelled I love doing the global high score so if you buy a game BF that is PF that has global high scores can you still post and your score shows up ?

That would be my only reason of not cancelling.

The main reason I got PP was because I got the game days earlier before it was released to the general public and now I dont get that, I get a free game which is no big deal because if you are avid TM game player and a person that buys the PF orginals you already have all their games so Im getting nothing from PF

If anybody can tell me about the High Scores which Im pretty sure you can post then I will be cancelling my PP

Hi, I'm not saying to keep or cancel here.  My experience is that if you have a BF game and get a high score, you can't submit and get a PF global score.  I did try to submit on a Choc game and nothing posted, even on BF site.   I don't know if you have to have PP though to submit - I don't remember that I had it when I submitted.  Also I have and also don't have PP depending on money flow.  It doesn't seem to make much difference other than the birthday medals, but they're not right anyway :-))  If I needed a cheaper game, I open my PP account back up.  If I'm not buying games much (I'm on a Mac and they don't have a lot anyway) I cancel my PP and save the monthly fee.  Good Luck!

Unless PF has changed something ..  in order to submit high scores on PF, you have to purchase the game here.

I'm sure PlayPass is still a great deal for a lot of folks but I don't feel it's worth it any longer.

I am sure the extra $$ PF gets from releasing their games to other game sites on game launch day greatly outweighs the $$ they are losing from people who are canceling their PP memberships because of that same reason.

We went through some of this extensively on another thread. I cancelled my PP for financial reasons. Kept my Big Fish as I feel I get more for my money. Great customer support, great forums with mods, a new game every day for less money than PP. Big Fish also has a daily 2.99 game every day for members. They do have contests. Some of the members also have contests every month. But if the main games you play are tm, then BF has the same as here, but more HOGs. I think BF and PF partner on some things, but there are some sites that don't share their games. Like gamehouse. Games that they develop they don't share with other sites.

I can only say that I cancelled mine and my husbands PP a few weeks ago.
My reasons are my own and not meant to persuade or dissuade anyone with their own choices.

I take my hard earned money very seriously. My husband and I have grown nervous about PF. My husband and I feel like the stability of PF is in question. We came on and started reading in the forums...and I'm glad we did, but we learned that alot of things are changing including customer service, promotion strategies, customer value and concern...you get the idea.

Alot of people on here got us to thinking about it. Then we noticed, as you all had pointed out, that BF has the games, better prices, etc.

Instead of worry about all this we cancelled and signed up at Big Fish and GameHouse(I think he signed up at GameHouse...maybe RealArcade? Idk)

That's what we did. I have always loved PlayFirst and I hope that things turn around and get back in tip top shape so we can come back.
