Favorite November Time Meals

Posted: November 4, 2009 at 10:48
Yes, I must admit, I'm mostly referring to thanksgiving - BUT - since not everyone celebrates thanksgiving - AND - this time of year tends to bring different foods to the table (pardon the pun) I was wondering what your favorite "meals" of this time of year are?  Are they family traditions or something else? (and please do including all the trimmings :-))

My family always did the traditional Thanksgiving meal, but with Mom and Dad gone now, I like to change it up a bit, so I look at different recipes and try different things for Thannksgiving.  Traditional is, of course Turkey, with either west coast liver and veggie stuffing, east coast oyster stuffing, or southern cornbread stuffing - but I also really like crispy Game Hens with nuts and fruit type sourdough stuffing.  Mashed Potatoes or mashed Rutabegas were traditional, but I like roasted root vegggies or potaotes au graten too and my favorite is sweet potato pudding.  I know a lot of people like that green bean and mushroom soup mixture, but i'm not really one of them, I prefer broccoli or brussel sprout/cheese cassarole.  Also, I like mixing greens and fruits and rice and nuts for salads, but I do love my mom's old recipe of finely shredded sweet carrots with lime/sugar sauce.  Also, while I love good, grainy Pecan Pie - my newest favorite is that Nut Torte I posted on the Halloween favorite recipe thread.  It's so simple and sooooo good!  Ooops! forgot one, traditional is some variation of cranberry relish, but I like to make a cranberry jello relish with apples and walnuts.

Ok, now I'm hungry.  Let's hear from you?

If we all felt at peace with ourselves, imagine how the world would be.
