How's the weather?

Posted: November 13, 2009 at 07:27
Just a mental distraction thread here :-)  I was thinking that everyone could post what the weather is like in their areas.  Or maybe how the weather patterns are?

Our weather hasn't quite decided how it wants to be yet.  Days are still mostly dry and warmish (60's to 70) with morning overcast, afternoon sun and clear cool nights (50's-60's).  This time of year, it goes back and forth until it finally just gets colder - Thanksgiving is often wet, Christmas is usually dry, clear and cool.  Except for occasionally, we don't usually get real snow like other places, but the mountains around us can.  We get frost and black ice a lot though - hard to drive in!  We generally have dry cool winters and long, wet, early springs with cool mid summers and hot indian summers. We also have microclimates, where the temp and conditions can vary 30 degrees with sun to fog within a 100 mies radius.  Today it was 65 and hazy sun.

If we all felt at peace with ourselves, imagine how the world would be.

We are having Indain Summer this weekend. Im sure enjoying the sunshine and the crisp air. All the leaves have changed my mums are saying their goodbyes as well as the other flowers. Can't wait to see my garden in all of it's splender next year. I'll keep that mental note because soon the snow and ice will be here. I don't really mind when it snows it's so beautiful, I just mind the icey roads and sidewalks. ugh!!!

Well we just got over a 2 day nor'easter. Lots of flooding on the 2 islands off our coast. I live on the mainland. We get some flooding here, but not as bad as the islands. Lots of beach erosion, dune damage, boardwalk damage. Translation, millions of dollars to fix.
Now the winds have died down, but still coming out of the north, not good. Need them to come from south, southwest. Temps still hovering around 60.

It's a little chilly in TN here at night, but the days are phenomenal, with picturesque autumn leaves.  This is really a pretty time of year.

It has been cold and damp with the odd sunny day.  A couple of frosts and foggy so far and lot of rain.
