Moving save files

Posted: November 21, 2009 at 09:55
Hi!
I have two computers; one at my dad's house and on at my mom's house.
I use the one at my mom's house the most because it has more memory, so I have tons of games on it.
My dad has a laptop with very little memory so I only have one game there and that's Diner Dash: Hometown Hero Gourmet.
Now, I wonder if there's any way I could transfer my save files from DDHH on my dad's computer to my mom's computer? I'm guessing that I can, but how? I don't really now how to do it, or where to find the files.
Also, my mom and I are thinking of buying a new computer, so are the save files different depending on which game it is???
I really need help with this because I don't feel like replaying it...

I asked PF this a few months ago & they said no. You have to reinstall the games & start over. You cannot transfer the files of the saved games. There is a program that tranfers everything but it's very expensive & takes a long time to do. I used one the last time a bought a new computer but I don't think it's worth it to just do games.

In XP, the game save files for Hometown Hero are saved in C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\PlayFirst\dinerdashhometownhero

For Vista/7, it might be C:\Users\USER\AppData\PlayFirst\dinerdashhometownhero

Rename USER with the account name you're logged in under.

You can move over the .dat files to an external drive, upload as attachments and send via e-mail, or burn to disc. Then just place them in the same folder on the other computer/laptop.

Game that you downloaded from here, should be in that PlayFirst folder. Games that you downloaded elsewhere, should be in the Application Data (XP) or AppData (Vista/7) folder, but possibly under another file extension and not .dat. You might need to have hidden files and folders shown: http://tinyurl.com/ye7lm65

While I have not personally transferred game saves from one computer to another, backing up game save files and replacing them on the reinstalled game, on the same computer, has worked for me. I don't see why it wouldn't work on another computer. It's worth a try, anyway.
