Help for Disco level 1
Posted: November 5, 2007 at 04:34
I always find Jen's tips helpful, but sometimes they don't
work for me because she is so much faster than I am.
I
use a completely different "slowpoke" strategy for this
level to get to Expert, so I thought I'd mention it.
I
put the most impatient noisy people at a "VIP" table in the
upper left, closest to the order station, because just
having that table closer to the line can make a
difference.
Then I make sure that table moves as
quickly as possible, even if it means breaking chains. The
people who will sit there are the people who are noisy and
impatient: yappers, teens (even if there are only two of
them), and the family.
I use the right side for quiet
people.
Jen's method will get much higher scores if
you can move that fast, but if you keep losing people from
the line, this might be worth trying. I can easily beat the
level with this method, and get Expert about 1 out of 4
times (it depends on the water spills).
Here's just a
quick example of how it's different.
In Round 1, seat
the girls at the top right, the yappers at the top left (my
"VIP table"), the tourists at the bottom right.
Go
immediately to the girls, take their order, then the
yappersÂ’. Deliver these two orders to the counter. Stand by
the counter.
Now one of 3 things will happen. The
tourists will order right away (if they do, it's OK to take
their order). Or the tourists will ask for a photo. Or there
will be a water spill.
Unless the tourists order right
away, ignore them for the moment. Wait for the food, deliver
it to the yappers, then the girls. Then while you're on the
right side anyway, deal with the tourists. Seat the
lovebirds in the bottom of the noisy section when they come
in.
As soon as the yappers finish, get their money. If
the girls are ready to pay, get their money, then their
dirty dishes, then the yapper dirty dishes, then seat the 2
teens at the "VIP table." But if the girls aren't ready, go
ahead and pick up the yapper dirty dishes so you can seat
the next VIP group there.
Then deal with everybody
else.
As soon as the teens at the VIP table have their
order ready, take it to the counter. Even if the lovebirds
are ready, too--deliver the teens' order, then pick up the
lovebirds' order. It will still chain, but you'll get an
extra second or two for the teens to eat.
And you just
keep going that way. Make chains of three if you can, but
don't worry--your main goal is to not lose people, because a
lost customer hurts you a lot more than an extra link on the
chain will help.
(If you do lose someone from the line,
you might as well restart the level.)
It's pretty
intuitive. Quiet people on the right. Noisy people on
the left. Keep the VIP table moving. So for example in
round 3 when the family comes in seat them at the VIP table
as soon as the teens are done, even if you have to break a
chain to do it, because you need the family to finish in
time for the next "VIP group." But you DON'T need to get
the family a highchair right away--that can wait until
you're over on the right side dealing with customers
there.
That brings up the second big tip for slowpokes:
don't go to the right side of the disco until you have a
couple of things to do there. It's fine if you're carrying
around dirty dishes or even a food order in this method.
You drop them off when you're back on the right side dealing
with customers. (This is where 4 hands is useful.)
Third tip: in the very last round, there will be no noisy
people left, so you can seat a group of 3 bookworms at the
upper left and a group of girls at the upper right. There
will be one set of lovebirds left over. Seat them once one
of the tourist groups finishes. But basically once you get
to this point go for the long chains again.
Anyway,
try Jen's way first, because it will definitely earn more
points if you can keep up with it. But if you lose
customers, try the "VIP table" approach and see if it helps.
Good luck!
