Some slowpoke tips
Posted: November 14, 2007 at 10:46
One more I mentioned in the Museum Level 5 slowpoke
walkthrough...
.
If one table is asking for snacks
and another is asking for dessert and everyone is pretty
happy give the snacks first. This is because a table that
asks for snack will often ask for dessert afterwards (this
is especially true of teens), but once someone asks for
dessert they're going to ask for the check next. So you
have a chance at a longer dessert chain by giving the snack
first.
.
If everyone is pretty happy, when you see
one person ask for dessert, look at the other tables and see
if others are close to finishing eating their main course.
If they are, wait by the dessert stand until you get two
requests--this will save you a trip back.
.
Do
the same thing when picking up food orders--if everyone is
pretty happy, wait by the counter until you have two to
deliver.
.
The exception to the "two per trip" is
when you're trying to clear a specific table, like maybe the
reservation table, particularly quickly or when you have an
odd number of tables anyway and you know you'll have to make
one trip of just one (in which case it might as well be the
first one). So this isn't a hard and fast rule, it's just a
good idea most of the time.
.
When possible (it's
not always), combine trips to the same part of the
restaurant. But if you can serve people in the same section
at about the same time, you may find they both ask for
desserts or checks at about the same time, which can
help.
.
Once the food has been served when you
have nothing to do, stand one of two places--at the podium
to make guests in line happy, or near the snacks and dessert
stand, to be ready when guests start asking for these.

Some slowpoke tips for the waitress
competitions
.
In the waitress competitions,
the slowpoke strategy is to anticipate the high points
requests. So stand near the snack stand so you're ready to
give those--they're worth more than picking up orders. And
as soon as someone is close to finishing, go over to get
their check.
.
Remember that on the waitress
competition levels your biggest advantage is that the other
waitress will go to get dessert and you can take the
customer's check right away, without giving dessert. Also,
one other strategy--some of the competing waitresses seem to
get confused if you have a chain of food deliveries going,
and they'll just stand there. So it's a good idea to
deliver food also.
.
On waitress levels I'll
stand by the snack stand. If someone asks for a snack, click
the stand. If a food order is just coming out, pick it up,
too. Deliver the snack, deliver the food, go back to the
counter for the next food orders. Deliver as many food
orders as I can, then go back to the snack station. As
people start to finish, pick up checks and dishes. I try to
get chains of two checks then two dishes but it's more
important to get the second check.
.
Faster people
can get a lot of points on the waitress levels by also
seating customers but I've found that usually takes too much
time for me. I'll do it if it's easy but otherwise I
concentrate on snacks, food deliveries, and picking up
checks and dishes. I'll pick up an order if I happen to be
going past that table anyway, since it helps break up the
competing waitress' chain, but I won't usually make a
special trip to pick up orders. Snacks are worth it,
though.
.
Good luck!
