Before I seat each group of diners, I pretty much do the same things: chain money pickup, chain dirty dishes pick up, put out flowers. Go to podium and let hearts fill two or three times. Then start seating.

Give drinks at the end of each chain--after picking up orders, after giving out food.

If the family spills, don't break your chain. Either get the spill before you start taking money, or take everyone's money before you clean the spill.

The key is not to try to seat too many people at once. This lets you keep everyone happy at the tables while you use the podium to keep the ones in line happy. And it gives you good color matches almost all the way through.
