Do additional restuarants have to be played only when connected to the internet?

That's my understanding, to play the additional restaurants, you have to be connected to the internet. I think this is a little unfair especially if you have crummy internet access. Any chance Playfirst will made an update and make these restaurants available offline as well as online?
