If you ran out of money, there is nothing that you can do except for completly restart the game. I really wish that there was someplace to get some money in the secret locations.

Usually you do get an offer if you are in the Amazons and run out of money. If you have chocolates on hand a guy appears who offers you to buy those (a bit cheaper than you sell them in shops), if you have no goods on hand he offers you some kind of credit. Happened to me several times that I went there and ran out of money and I always got that offer when I was low enough. Next time when you are low on money just try to buy a few more ingredients until you can't buy anymore, maybe it triggers the offers then.

Wow geanois, I never knew that happened! It almost makes me want to get stuck in the Amazon so I can see something different like that in the game.

Like an eejut, I got stuck in the Himalayas. I bought one too many cloves and boom--not enough money for passage back to Bombay--which is silly, since I'd be hiking anyway. Aaaargh! Where is that old miser when you need him?

Thanks for posting this. I was stuck in Mahajanga and I took your suggestion and spent the rest of my money on supplies (until I had $0 left) and the old guy came and offered to buy all my chocolates for $15K. It was a rip-off but I'm glad he came by because I was pretty far along in the game already (and brain dead from hours of playing, and this is why I got stuck without enough travel money!).

Yeah, you need to be careful about that sort of thing. Sometimes the people in the bars will warn you about that but it's hard to remember before you get all caught up in the game. Make sure you have enough money to go to the secret location and back, as well as buy some things while you're there. So you need a large savings before you go, since it's at least a 2 week journey each way.
