Hey scrpbkr, i found when playing this that it was easy to make enough money to upgrade at least one more writer and actor hut by not spamming movies, but trying to match actors and scripts with good sets! Try building a new york set, i found it matched the script types best. i really like how this game brought back memories of games i used to play when i was younger, and how there is really no other game out there for me to play. Definately worth the price

Ever feel like none of those movies out there are good enough for your taste, either the producer cast the wrong actors or the script is just plan boring, now you have a chance to fix these problem and do it your way, Hollywood Tycoon is a great game, you can cast your favorite actors, choose the scripts, make the film and wait for money to "rush" to the box office, but before all these action, you need to build the trailers for actors, hire scripts writers, and build the set, when you earn more money (depends on if you cast the right actor(s) for the scripts), you can build more or repair some of those things you have build. This is not a short game, it can last for hours, good graphics, good music, easy to play, the only complain is the tutorial is a little glib (That is the reason I minus 1 star), certain things you have to figure out yourself by experiments.
Overall this is a great and smart game, please play the 1 hour demo to experience the fun of making movie(s).

Wow, this is the second game that I’ve had a chance to play on PlayFirst and I actually really enjoyed it a lot. This is a game where you get to run your own Hollywood production studio, which requires you to build sets on the lot, buy scripts, and hire actors for movies, among other things. The graphics are charming and the gameplay is the star of the show.
Where the gameplay really shines is with this automatically scrolling set of tiles across the top of the screen that feature scripts for sale and actors for hire. What’s great about this feature is that you can’t always get the kind of actor or script that you want when you want it, and often you’re faced with the decision of choosing any script and/or actor quickly and getting the movie out the door, or waiting for the right combination of the two to come along and give you a much higher grossing movie. This feature also works particularly well with some of the challenges in the game that require you to make several different genres of movies within the same year. When I was completing some of these challenges, I ended up with some big box-office busts after I had to rush several movies out the door without good actor and script combinations. However, if you know how to work quickly, you can actually make good money by using the strategy of producing and releasing a large number of crappy films each year, instead of a couple of good ones. I love it because it’s just like the type of business that you see in the film industry today.
Hints at the beginning of the game help to get you familiar with how to play it right away, and I was able to start doing things in this game without really having to go and actively look up stuff in the instructions. I thought this game was great!
Pros: amazing gameplay, great graphics, fun
Cons: some user-interface quirks

Well I just finished the free one hour trial on this game, and I have to say I was impressed! I found everything really easy to pick up and the controls were really intuitive. I will definitely be purchasing this game, and future Social Games Universe products if they're anything like this.

I really like this game! It's similar in many ways to some of the other Tycoon games, but it seems more challenging, and it seems like it will have a long play value. I am definitely purchasing this game, and I look forward to many hours of playing it!

Game is alright, I'm having problems fully understanding the game. There are certain requirements to gain a reward & even if I complete them I do not receive the award which is confusing & frustrating. You cannot delete a profile if you make a mistake. I wish there was a volume control for the music & like a lot of other games, separate controls for the sound & music. This game only has a off & on button for music. Does not save your settings IE full screen/windowed mode,sound settings... It would be a lot better if it could be updated somehow...

I've never heard of Social Game Universe, but if this is any indication to their future, they got my vote. It's quite addicting once you get started, enough to keep the person yelling at you to come down for dinner waiting (for an hour).
