Questions about playing Diner Dash: Hometown Hero—Gourmet Edition

  1. Why do I need to be connected to the internet to play some features of Diner Dash: Hometown Hero, such as additional restaurants? Why do I receive the error, "unable to update" or "unable to contact PlayFirst"?
    • Diner Dash: Hometown Hero—Gourmet Edition requires a connection to verify you are running the latest version with the most current features, as well as a check to see if you have purchased any items. If you are have connection issues we have listed the following fixes:
      • Turn off any pop-up blocker
      • Confirm that you are connected to the internet
      • Examine your computer for "spyware" using any spyware search and removal tool. Many spyware programs cause compatibility errors with our software and could be the reason you are unable to connect to our servers.
      • If you are using a firewall, make sure that it is configured to recognize the game software as safe.
      • Check the security settings of your browser—sometimes browser security can stop the game from contacting our servers. Try reducing the security settings of your browser if they are set high.
      • Check the date on your computer and make sure it is correct.
      • If you are using an old version of a browser, try upgrading it to the latest version.
      • Occasionally, the PlayFirst authentication server may experience a short period of downtime. Wait a few hours and try unlocking the game again.

  2. I have just purchased an additional restaurant and my restaurant is not appearing in my game map menu? Where is the unlock key for my purchased restaurant?
    • Diner Dash: Hometown Hero—Gourmet Edition—purchased restaurants do not have unlock keys like full version games as they are game items that automatically update to the Diner Dash Gourmet edition game map menu. If you have not purchased the full Gourmet version, we recommend that you download the free unlimited trial Hometown Hero Gourmet version, and from this you will be able to access your purchased restaurants.

Please note that your purchased restaurants require an active internet connection and also make sure you are logging into your game account with the same email address that you used to purchase the game item. If you are still unable to see your restaurant in your game map menu using the scroll arrows, here are some things you will want to try:
      • Turn off any pop-up blocker
      • Confirm that you are connected to the internet
