I didn't care too much for this one. The graphics were too grainy, the sound effects too run-of-the-mill, and the gameplay too tedious and mind-numbing. Even the otherwise compelling storyline couldn't have saved this one. Better save your money and look elsewhere, folks.

Mortimer is a little purple Kirby thing that has been called upon to wander through spooky lands. There are often obstacles in his path, which you must help him overcome by placing objects such as blocks, springs, and bombs in the game so Mortimer, who acts pretty much like a lemming (you remember those, don't you?), won't walk off a cliff and onto some sharp pointy spikes and burst like a balloon.
Mortimer's a good game if you haven't had any experience with this type of game before. However, I played The Incredible Machine and its sequel incessantly as a child, so being forced to go through first the tutorial then the beginners' levels bored me to no end. Even up to level 25, the gameplay was not challenging enough for me to want to go any further. With the limited number of pieces in play, many of the answers were quite obvious and Mortimer just walks (or rather, drifts) too slowly. I'd set up the course, hit run, and walk off and do something else waiting for the level to finish.
The graphics were nice, and Mortimer's cute and all, especially when he goes :o when he falls, but that just won't cut out for the uninspired puzzles. The music was appropriately spooky, but I found myself wishing there'd been some kind of "OooOOOoh" noise when Mortimer goes :o. It only seemed fitting.

Mortimer and the Enchanted Castle is a cute Halloween themed children's puzzler game. It's a cross between a "pick 'n' click" and a "slider" game, where you have to pick the puzzle pieces and click where they belong in order for Mortimer to slide across each board to reach his destination. The game overall is unique and cute, and offers problem solving for young players.
