The Chosen Child is a beautiful game and I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't played the first two Dream Chronicles. I love the first two DC games to the point that I thought anything that brought me back into this magical world would be great. When I replay the first two games, I still enjoy the incredible artwork and look forward to the challenge of random dream piece locations and changing puzzles.
I can't say any of that for The Chosen Child. It does not have the feel of a magical world at all. A pumpkin patch and a 2-room Herbalist's House with a weedy yard and half of a pumpkin stuck in the front door? None of the scenes have the sense of magic and magesty that the others have throughout. It is much shorter and has the feel of hide-and-seek with mini-games built in.
The whole game is frankly dumbed-down to the point that it's quickly boring. The ever helpful Fidget constantly interrupts the progress with advice no matter how often you play and he can't be turned off .
This game is better than many games on the web, but if you compare it to Chapters 1 and 2, you'll be very disappointed.
