Like others have said, the wire cutters are under the green couch's seat cushion. One thing that helped me while playing is that the shape of my cursor/clicker changed whenever I was touching something that you could click to get more information from. A person, an object whatever. I hope this helps as you continue to play the game.

The 60 minute trial provides two purposes. The first is to let you experience the game & determine if you want to own it or figure out the outcome.  Do you want to win, earn medals, get a high score, see how the story ends, etc.  The second is just to tease you.  They give you just enough, and let you get so far with hopes that you will want to buy the game and continue the fun.  In my opinion an hour is just right.
