The wait for this title was long and agonizing, but it's here!! The key feature that distinguishes this game from other casual games out there is that you can continually change your game experience by playing against other players and ordering upgrades online.
The online competitive play feature allows you to compete against one player in a race to see who can serve the customers better. Basically, you race your opponent to tables and serve the customers just like you do in the real game except your points here are up against the other player's points. Whoever is able to score the most points by completing tasks and chains wins the match.
Currently, online upgrades include a 6th store (!), theme bundles that include waiter clothing and diner features upgrades, and diner items and upgrades that are sold separately.
The gameplay is more of the standard dining experience we've come to know and love in the other Diner Dash titles. Flo faithfully continues to serve her customers using the same system we are accustomed to (seat them, take the orders, serve the food, drop off the check and bus the tables). However, there are some twists thrown in! You won't get any spoilers from me after waiting so long for this game! :)
The story is based on the premise of Flo visiting her grandmother in her hometown and finding a whole host of problems when she arrives. If anyone can fix it, Flo can! Come discover the 'twists' waiting when you progress through Flo's newest adventure. With the new additions to content and the ability to play and shop online, Diner Dash Hometown Hero - Gourmet Edition is most definitely worth a download.
The only drawback is the cost of online shopping. While it is free to play online against other players, the items listed under the 'Shop' function range from $.79- $4.99. The 6th store is the most expensive at $4.99, bundles $2.99 and individual items $.79 - .99. The price for all is $24.87, which may be a problem for some people.
