Showing his Only Game Review
Yes, for those of us who remember the joys of the turn-based RPG of old, Aveyond is a very tall cool drink of water in a parched world. The sound and graphics quality take a hit, but I think that the point here is that the game doesn't need much of a computer to run on (my machine is about 6 y.o.). The story line kept me on the game for several hours for many days. My chief complant is that there was no expanded readme or support file telling one how to play the game. What I know about the game comes from a lot of trial and error play (and many game saves throughout the gane). If I could offer a few words of support, it would be the following:
Save games often!! You never know when you will get stuck.
The journal function is helpful to keep you on task, but keep scratch paper or a notepad handy for the clues that the journal doesn't keep.
If the junk merchants have something to sell, buy it, for you may need it.
Buy, buy, buy. Supplies, weapons and armor equal survival for your party. I find a balanced approach to this philosophy helpful, with emphasis placed on armor (which improves a characters ability to take a hit), and weapons/magic (which improves characters ability to do damage or heal party members).
Outside of the expanded readme with improved item descriptions, I could see an opportunity for a separate user's guide, with more cheats, tips, tricks, and strategies.
